3 min read

This experiment was done in August 2026.

This is a record of a 14-day continuous practice of sending and receiving distant Reiki healing, in which 14 Reiki practitioners participated.

The 14 practitioners were members of the Japan Reiki Association Hong Kong chapter, ranging from Usui Reiki level 2 and level 3 practitioners to Reiki Shihans.

Regardless of years of experience, they voluntarily joined this project.

Participants came together from across the world — Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and Colombia.

  3. Challenges for sustainable practice — time management, evening fatigue, and feedback

Conclusion and Recommended Actions

The 14-day continuous distant Reiki practice brought very high satisfaction to all participants, strengthened their confidence as practitioners, and produced notable physical and mental relaxation effects.

Marked improvement in satisfaction and confidence

13 out of 14 participants (92.9%) rated their satisfaction as “5” (10 people, 71.4%) or “4” (3 people, 21.4%), with an average of 4.64/5.00 — an exceptionally high result. Confidence in distant Reiki also rose significantly, with 13 participants (92.9%) rating “4” (8 people, 57.1%) or “5” (5 people, 35.7%), averaging 4.29/5.00. Continuous practice greatly deepened trust in distant Reiki.

Physical and sensory experiences reinforcing confidence

During practice, 9 participants (64.3%) reported feeling “warmth,” 7 (50.0%) felt “drowsiness,” 4 (28.6%) experienced “lightness in the body,” and 4 (28.6%) noted “tingling sensations.” These tangible experiences strengthened the conviction that Reiki energy transcends distance.

Deep mental relaxation

Psychological changes during sessions showed that 13 out of 14 participants (92.9%) experienced “deep relaxation” (6 people, 42.9%) or “moderate relaxation” (7 people, 50.0%). It became an opportunity for self-care, calming the mind amidst daily busyness.

2. Ripple Effects in Daily Life — “Self-awareness” and “Emotional Stability”

The effects of distant Reiki extended beyond sessions, fostering emotional regulation and self-reflection in daily life.

Simultaneous growth in self-awareness and emotional stability

The most notable effects were “enhanced self-awareness” (7 participants, 50.0%) and “emotional stability” (7 participants, 50.0%).

Mental buffer under stress

In open responses, participants reported that Reiki practice helped maintain calm and prevent irritability even in stressful situations such as family travel, childcare during summer holidays, and busy work periods. The sense of “sending and receiving Reiki with companions worldwide” provided emotional support and connection.

Improvements in vitality, sleep, and concentration

Additionally, 4 participants (28.6%) reported “restored energy” or “better sleep quality,” while 3 (21.4%) noted “improved concentration,” contributing to overall quality of life.

3. Challenges for Sustainable Practice — Time Management, Evening Fatigue, and Feedback

The 14-day continuous practice also revealed practical challenges for future personal training and program improvement.

Securing quiet environments and fixed times

10 participants (71.4%) practiced “alone in a quiet place,” but several noted the difficulty of securing 15 minutes of silence daily amidst work, childcare, and household duties.

Evening practice and the issue of “falling asleep”

Many practiced at night, but fatigue sometimes led to falling asleep during sessions. Suggested solutions included shifting practice to mornings or reprioritizing schedules.

Need for creative methods and feedback

Some reported that writing names on paper or cards enhanced focus and relaxation. Others expressed concerns about “cleansing negative energy” or wished for synchronized sending times to compare experiences, pointing to areas for technical improvement and better exchange.

Conclusion and Recommended Actions

This 14-day experiment significantly strengthened participants’ trust and confidence in Reiki, while also contributing to emotional stability and enhanced self-awareness in daily life.

Recommended approaches suggested from the participants for continued practice:

  • Shift to morning routines: Incorporate 10–15 minutes in the morning or flexible short sessions during the day to avoid evening fatigue.

  • Share sending/receiving logs: Use timestamps or card logs to strengthen connection and validate experiences.

  • Learn cleansing techniques: Integrate practices for clearing negative energy and setting boundaries to establish safer, more confident distant Reiki sessions.
