In 2026, one of the major events of the Japan Reiki Association Hong Kong Chapter was held: the Reiki Workshop @ Chiba, Japan!
It was truly amazing—I was able to host a gathering that came very close to the vision I had imagined in my mind.
Thank you so much to everyone who took time out of your busy schedules, felt “I want to join!” and came to be part of it!
What I wanted to share with participants through this gathering was:
〇The comfort felt through Reiki that can be so powerful it transforms the environment and those around us
〇A shared understanding that transcends language barriers
〇The deeper meaning of “connection” that goes beyond intellectual comprehension
The venue was Brownsfield in Chiba, Japan—a retreat center famous for over 30 years of sustainable living and plant-based meals, beautifully managed with deep experience.

Interestingly, last year I never imagined I would come to this place, but somehow, I ended up visiting. On that day, I was feeling terribly unwell, yet strangely enough, I had the chance to speak directly with the owner, Deco Nakajima, who kindly showed me around the facilities. Perhaps something had already begun before I even realized it.

Later, through monthly online study sessions with our school's overseas Reiki teachers living abroad, one question arose among us:
“In the Japan Reiki Association, we say, ‘Japanese traditional style’ and ‘Western style,’ but what exactly do we mean by the traditional style we want to convey?”
This has become a lively topic in other Usui Reiki schools overseas too. As we discussed it, we noticed our perspectives drifting, and we felt the need to revisit and clarify this together.
I realized I couldn’t do this alone, so I consulted with Chairperson Yoko Tsuji and Reiki Teacher Akiyo Takahashi, who teaches Reiki therapy.
The conclusion was: since many people are coming to Japan from overseas now, why not invite international Reiki teachers to Japan for an in-person study retreat?
This event had two parts:
☆A retreat-style study session in English (and other main languages) for overseas Reiki masters
☆An international exchange and Reiki practice session, experienced in a joyful mix of languages
Both were held exclusively for practitioners of our Association.
Through these events, our learning deepened profoundly. We could reach this depth because of the solid foundation of “what Reiki is,” established from the very first Usui Reiki attunement level 1 course.
Around the world, “Reiki” has branched into many forms since its origin in Japan. The more it spreads, the more complex it can become. But I love returning to the simplicity of the original Reiki, digesting its meaning through practice. (That’s why I’ve been doing this for nearly 20 years—I’m convinced of it!)
I studied Usui Reiki at two schools in the past, but I’m truly grateful I could take courses and teacher training with the Japan Reiki Association.
It was invaluable to meet Reiki teachers face-to-face, something usually so difficult, and to laugh together with new friends during the international practice session as if we had already known each other.
Interestingly, this venue itself turned out to have connections with Usui Reiki, though I hadn’t known that deeply before. When I first announced the event, some people said:
“Isn’t it too far? It’s hard to get there without trains.”
“It’s too far, so I’ll skip this time.”
Quite a few decided not to come. But I believe those who needed to be there were meant to receive it.
In the end, those who chose to attend surely deepened their own necessary learning through this gathering.
And my personal reflection: this was incredible! Even after the event ended, the rise in energy didn’t stop—I felt completely transformed.
For me, it meant that the things I had wished for started happening one after another.
The story continues…

Q) When is the next special event? The specific schedule has not yet been announced, but our special events are mainly reserved for Reiki practitioners of our Association who have completed the Usui Reiki Attunement Course. Therefore, if you are interested in future events, we strongly recommend first enrolling in our Usui Reiki Attunement Course!
